Carolyn Diane Harkness was born October 10, 1949.  At approximately one year of
age, she was adopted by John and Beulah Harkness.

During her toddler years, the normal developmental milestones were not met and
her parents knew they had a very special child.  She loved dolls, tea parties
and playing in the playhouse her parents made.  As she got older she enjoyed
jigsaw puzzles, coloring, shopping, family outings, bowling, Special Olympics,
birthday parties and Christmas.

Going to church was an important part of her life and she knew all of the Bible
stories.  She enjoyed the AIM Friendship classes and retreats and going to
church camp every summer.  Carolyn was employed at several jobs, making beds for
a nursing home, a hotel and also sold Avon.  Carolyn was deeply loved by her
family.  Following a brief illness she passed away on February 18, 2015. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.  She is survived by
two sisters, Joan (Dean) LaClair of Breckenridge, and Denise (Eldon) Grubb of
Hastings, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Carolyn’s life will take place at the Countryside United
Brethren Church, 4762 S. 11 Mile Road, Breckenridge, MI 48615 on Saturday, Feb.
21, 2015 at 11 a.m. with family receiving friends from 10 a.m. until time of
service.  Memorials may be directed to Association of Interfaith Ministries
(AIM), 7575 South Leaton Road, Shepherd, MI 48883, which provides religious
experiences for people with cognitive disabilities.  Arrangements made by Koops
Funeral Chapel, 935 4th Ave., Lake Odessa, MI, 48849.
