Mrs. Harnden was seriously ill at the time of the baby’s death, and the shock she suffered when she learned the little one was dead robbed her of all chances of recovery. “When Harnden returned to the recorder’s court on Thursday, it was with the thoughts that perhaps his wife could not live the day out and what coolness he did display under the terrific cross-examination of Attorneys Mistersky and Murtha, council for Hammond, was remarkable in view of the fact that he was finding it one of the hardest tasks of his life to keep his mind on the questions and answers and not on the sickbed, where his wife was feebly calling his name to doctors and nurses. “As soon as Harnden had told all he knew about the finding of the bags that once contained the $17,000 stolen from the E-M-F Automobile Co., he hurriedly left the stand and rushed to his home, where he constantly remained at the bedside of his wife until the end, which came last evening. “Harnden is a railroad fireman on Pere Marquette, and is 23 years of age. His wife was but 22. She was Miss Carrie Luscher before her marriage about ten months ago.” File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/h/harnden12122nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 2.5 Kb
