The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, June 11, 1973
Wesley J. Harp, 52, of 2566 East Tuttle road, died Sunday evening at his home 
following an extended illness.  Born February 10, 1921, at Lyons, he was the 
son of Ralph and Lillian Messer Harp.  He lived in Lyons and attended and 
graduated from Lyons high school with the class of 1939.  He worked for 
General Motors in Pontiac until entering the service during world War II in 
1941.  He served with the Navy in the Pacific area until January 1946.  He 
worked at the Ionia State hospital five years, then at the Oldsmobile in 
Lansing two years.  He then returned to Ionia State hospital where he was 
employed 18 years until his illness forced his retirement in 1972.

June 18, 1946 he was married in Ionia to Regina Donnelly.  They made their 
home on a farm on Tuttle road the past 18 years.  He was a member of the 
Sheridan VFW post and Ionia Fishing and Hunting club.  

Besides the wife, Regina, he leaves two sons, Mike of Ionia and Joe of 
Wentzville, Missouri; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Elvert of Ionia and Theresa 
Harp at home; three grandchildren, two brothers, Marvin of State Center, Iowa, 
and Robert of rural Lyons.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Leddick funeral home.  Rev. 
John Murphy of Pleasant View United Brethren church of Six Lakes will 
officiate assisted by Rev. Fr. Jack Findlay of SS Peter and Paul church with 
interment at Balcom cemetery.  Family will be at the funeral home Tuesday and 
Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
