He was born March 31, 1918 in Lyons, the son of Jerome and May (Angel) Harper. He went on to marry Margaret Snell on June 20, 1946, in Indiana. Harold retired from the state of Michigan Department of Corrections in 1980 after 36 years of service. He also served in the U.S. Army in WWII from 1942-1945. He served in Africa and Italy under General Patton. His hobbies included woodworking, hunting, and bowling. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Margaret Harper of Ionia; son Ronald (Darla) of Orleans; brother George from Lyons; sister Ann Randell from Monroe; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Shirley Nave and special friends Tim and Diane Courter. He was preceded in death by his brother James Ray; sister Ruth Crawford; and son Robert Nave. Cremation has taken place. A date for a Memorial Service will be announced later.
