Miss Harper, a former Ionia school teacher, died at her home Tuesday morning, January 3, at 2 o’clock. She was brought to her home several weeks ago from the Ionia City hospital where she had been a patient for sometime. Miss Harper was born November 14, 1859, and was graduated from the Ionia high school in 1882. She was a teacher in the Ionia public schools for 30 years and for three months taught a school in Massachusetts, where she resided a short time. During the World war, at which time there was a shortage of teachers in Ionia, Miss Harper resumed her teaching to help the situation in the Ionia public schools. She was interested and active in church work and was a member of the Ionia Methodist Episcopal church.
