Died Saturday at Blodgett Hospital; Taken There Week Ago After Illness of Several Weeks. Robert Harper, who has been ill for several weeks, was taken to Blodgett hospital last Sunday, where he passed away Saturday, October 21, 1922. Mr. Harper was born in Blenheim, Canada, February 5, 1849, and came to Michigan in the spring of 1873, and since that time he has lived in Ionia. Mr. Harper, has always been a staunch republican, and deeply interested in the affairs of his city, state and country, and was a strong advocate of prohibition. His early life was spent in caring for the home, always ready to do for those he loved. He leaves five sisters, Mrs. William E. Farwell, of Boston, Mass., Mrs. Elizabeth Burns, of Windsor, Canada, Mrs. Lee P. Spaulding, of Ionia, Mrs. A.P. Clark Matson, of Chicago, Illinois, and Miss Alice Harper, the sister with whom he lived, and two brothers, James A. of Pontiac, and George W. of this city. The funeral services will be held at the home on Bayard street, Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., and burial in Highland Park cemetery. ------------ The Funeral for Robert Harper was held from the late residence, 512 Bayard street, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30. Many relatives and friends were present from away, besides the large host of Ionia friends who attended the service. Rev. Charles J. Kruse conducted the service. The Methodist Episcopal prayer service was read. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The bearers were James Harper, George Harper, D.R. Everest, N.J. Spaulding and Lee Spaulding. Burial took place in Highland park cemetery.
