Arriving in this country, he started work on one of the railroads and for the last 24 years he has been a faithful employee of the Grand Trunk R.R. in this city, having filled several positions satisfactorily. Some 17 years ago while working as a yardman, he met with an accident from which he lost his left hand and received internal injuries, and he has never known what a day of good health was since. On Oct. 13, 1881 he was married to Miss Sophia V. Smith of Ionia. To them two children were born, Ralph and Cressie, who has passed away, and now his patient wife mourns the last of her dear husband.
