August 22, 1935 DEATH TAKES WELL KNOWN MEN IN WEEK Smyrna Man Drops Dead On Street As He converses With His Friends The Smyrna Community was greatly shocked on Saturday night to learn of the sudden death of Henry Harris.It seems that Mr.Harris had been in the Kropp pool- room and was just leaving for home, shortly before 10 o'clock, and fell dead as he passed out the door. He had not been in the best of health for the past few months but was able to be about his duties at the power house south of the village two days each week. Mr.Harris was born in Spencer, Iowa, and came to Michigan when a young lad.He had made his home in and about Smyrna for man years. He was married to Miss Carrie Green, daughter of Edward and Anno Green over 40 years ago and is survived by his widow and two children. Aldena Harris Irish of Greenville and Alburtle of Smyrna, also a young grandson. For the past 20 years he had been a faithful employee at the power plant. He was one of the charter members of the Maccaees, having joined the Smyrna tent in 1896. Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev.H.S.Ellis of this city officiated and burial was in Smyrna Cemetery.
