The Ionia Sentinel, Friday, October 4, 1878

Rescom Hart, who has been a resident of this place since 1865, died quite 
suddenly, on Sept. 27th, in the 71st year of his age.  He leaves a widow and 
five children.  Of these children, James P. Hart and Mrs. O. Waterbury reside 
here; Mrs. Frank Parker, at Eaton Rapids; Samuel K. Hart, at Medina, and A.P. 
Hart, at Chicago, Ill.  Mr. Hart won the esteem of all acquaintances by his 
uniformly upright character and the kindly impulses of his nature.  For nearly 
thirty years he has been a consistent member of the Baptist church.  The 
funeral services were held at the First Baptist church, the sermon being 
preached by Rev. J. Donnelly, from the text “Blessed are the dead who die in 
the lord.”
