Ionia Sentinel Standard, 27 May 1940

George M. Harter, former Ionian, died May 21, at Ingall Memorial hospital at
Harvey, Illinois, following an operation.  He was born in Ionia and attended the
Ionia school.  For 32 years he lived in Chicago where he was employed by the
elevated railroad as motorman.

Surviving are the widow, two daughters, Mrs. Georgia DeWitt and Mrs. Eileen
Andrews, of Chicago, a son, Wilmer Harter, of Boston, Mass., and three brothers,
Wilmer Harter, of Chicago, Harry Harter of Lansing and Walter Harter of Ionia,
and one sister, Mrs. Guy Sayles of Ionia.

Funeral services were held for him Friday in Chicago.
