Hartman, 78, of Saranac, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2008 at Ionia County Memorial Hospital. He was born January 13, 1930 in Corunna the son of Milo and Gladys Stull Hartman. Donald served in the US Army as a cook at Ft. Bragg, N.C. He was a member of the Ionia Moose 998, the Moose Legion 108 and the Greenville Eagles 4321. He retired from Extruded Metals in 1992 as a superintendent after 42 years of service. He loved to play golf, cards and deer hunt. Donald is survived by four children, Rick (Lichin) Hartman of Bonham, Texas, David (Sherral) Hartman of Belding, Lee Hartman of Mesquite, Texas and Tracie (Bernie) Nydam of Shelbyville; his grandchildren, Ryan Hartman, Nathan Hartman, Hillary Hartman, Fay (Crist) Georing, Chad Byrne and Jessica Nydam and 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Anderson and Judy Lemke both of Muir; sisters-in-law, Ilene Hartman of Ionia and William Hartman of Muir, and his very special friend and fiancé, Alice Parrish and her children, Tammy and Lyle Griffith of Orleans and Dale Wolfert of Ionia. Donald was preceded by his wife, Marlene in 1991; his parents; three sisters, Gwendolyn, Donna and Lorraine; three brothers, Richard, Winston and Larry and three brothers-in-law, Wilbur Howard, Andy Anderson and Lou Lemke. Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Private interment will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at 12 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Donald wish for a casual celebration of his life; family and friends are encouraged to dress casually and comfortably for his services.
