He was born February 12, 1904 in Ronald Township, the son of Marcus and Annie Kimbell Hartman. He was graduated from Ionia High School in 1923 and attended Ferris State University in Big Rapids. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge in Three Rivers, he worked at Connors Auto Supply in Ionia for 15 years and owned and operated Consolidated Freight in Three Rivers until he retired in 1965. After retiring he moved to Muir and lived on Schaeffer Road. He married Josephine Fosdick Doremus in 1940. She preceded him in death. He is survived by his grandson, Samuel Peters of San Diego and several nieces and nephews. According to Mr. Hartman’s wishes his body was donated to the University of Michigan Anatomy Department. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Shiloh Community Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. Organist will be Beverly Harger. A memorial has been established for the Shiloh Community Church Building Fund, in care of the church. Arrangements were made by the Cook Funeral Home of Ionia.
