The Ionia Daily Standard, Monday, November 4, 1918
Stephen M. Hartman, son of Marcus Hartman, living four miles north of Ionia, 
died Saturday noon from pneumonia following influenza, at the age of twenty-
one years.  The funeral was at one o’clock Monday, Rev. Buckner officiating.  
There are four other boys in the family, as well as the mother, who are all 
down sick with the same trouble.
