Theron J. Hartwick, 80, of Portland died Feb 24, 2000.  He was born in Lansing 
Jan 18, 1920, the son of Peter and Edna (Thompson) Hartwick.  He was a veteran 
of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army, and a member of the Portland VFW Post 
#4090.  He had retired from General Motors after many years of service.

Surviving are brothers, Mel (Jeanette) and Orville(Francine) Hartwick of 
Portland; sister, Irene Barrus of Greenville; and several grandchildren and 
great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna (1998) and son, Gregory, and 
daughter-in-law, Cindy (1985).

Services were conducted Feb. 26 by the Rev. James Howard of the First Baptist 
Church of Portland.  Interment followed at the Danby Cemetery.  Military 
graveside honors were provided by Portland VFW Post #4090.

Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 271 Woodland Pass, 
Suite 110, East Lansing, 48823 or to the American Lung Association, 403 Seymour 
Ave., Lansing 48933-1179.  Arrangements were entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman 
Funeral Home, Portland.
