She was born on April 13, 1927, the daughter of the deceased Harold and Ruth (Kruger) Hills, from Muir. Mrs. Hartwick was a member of the Portland V.F.W. Post 4090 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved crocheting and enjoyed ceramics. She was in the process of making a baby Afghan for her soon-to-be great-grandchildren. She very much loved to be at home. Mrs. Hartwick was preceded in death by her grandson, Nicholas Warner. Surviving is her husband of 53 years, Orville P. Hartwick; brother Fred (Virginia) Hills; sister Carolyn (Leon) Fulcher; step-mother Bernice Hills; daughters Linda (Mike) Meyers and LouAnn (George) Warner; son Steve (Vanessa) Hartwick; brother-in-law Melvin (Jeanette) Hartwick; sister-in-law Irene Barrus; seven grandchildren, Bruce (Chloe) Meyers, Amy Meyers, Jennifer (Joshua) Cross, Thomas (Kristi) Warner, David Warner, Michelle Hartwick, and Adam Vettes; and two great-grandchildren who are on the way. The Funeral Service will be conducted by the Rev. Scott K. Otis, Pastor of Portland United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 1301 E. Grand River Ave., Portland, with grave side services following at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
