Funeral services will be held at the home of her mother, Mrs. William H. Dilley, 352 East Washington street, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, with Rev. H. A. Simpson, of Ionia, officiating. burial will be at the Muir cemetery. Mrs. Harwood’s death followed the birth of a son a week ago at which time a Caesarean operation was performed at Blodgett hospital. Although her condition had been serious much of the time since, her death was not expected, and as late as Friday plans were discussed for bringing her home perhaps during the present week. Early Saturday however, Mrs. Harwood’s blood pressure rose alarmingly and in the afternoon she sank into a coma from which she did not recover. Mrs. Harwood was the daughter of Mrs. Dilley and the late William H. Dilley, whose death occurred August 12 last. She was born in Muir, August 20, 1903 and attended the Muir schools until a junior in the high school when she entered the Ionia schools from which she was graduated with the class of 1921. Later she attended Michigan State and Olivet colleges. She was associated with her father in his office when he was clerk of Ionia county and later with him in the offices of the Ohio National Life Insurance company for which he was agent here, and the Ionia branch office of the secretary of state which had distribution of automobile license plates. Mrs. Harwood was a member of the Ionia Presbyterian church wherein she had been an active member and worker. Surviving are the husband and one son, Jerry William, her mother, Mrs. Jessie Dilley, and grandmother, Mrs. William Sykes, of Muir.
