Ionia Sentinel Standard, 9 Sep 1986

Lois L. Harwood, 84, of 5916 S. State Road, Ionia, died Sunday in the Ionia 
County Memorial Hospital.  She was the daughter of Jay and Alta Eagle Harwood.  

She graduated from Ionia High School in 1921 and Michigan State University in 
1926.  She was employed at the Michigan State University, Merrill-Palmer 
Institute and at Cranbrook Academy.  After retirement, she became the 
superintendent of the foods department of the Ionia Free Fair.  She was a 
member of the Saranac Community Church and the Chi Omega Sorority.

Surviving are one sister, Gladys Stebbins of Ionia; one brother, Harold J. 
Harwood of Ionia; one niece; two nephews; several great-nieces and nephews.  
One brother, Stanley A. Harwood, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held today at 1 p.m. at the Montgomery-Leddick Funeral 
Home.  Burial will be in Saranac Cemetery, with the Rev. Willis Braun 
officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to Michigan State University 
or to the church or the giver’s choice.
