Irwin W. Harwood, age 91, of Saranac, passed away December 13, 2005 in Hastings.
 He was born October 2, 1914 in Saranac, the son of Luke Patrick and Bertha
(White) Harwood.  He graduated from Saranac High School in 1933.  Irwin married
Agnes P. Roth October 2, 1935 in Clarksville.  

He worked for A&P Grocery in Hastings and Lansing for 15 years.  Irwin owned and
operated Harwood IGA in Clarksville for 18 years.  He later retired after
working for 13 years as a Meat Inspector for the State of Michigan.  He was a
charter member of the Clarksville Lions Club.

Irwin is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Agnes, of Clarksville;
children, Durward I. and Ruby J. Harwood of Lake Odessa, Edwin R. and Angeline
M. Harwood of Monroe, Susan K. and John J. Eldridge of Lake Odessa, David G. and
Regina J. Harwood of Mansfield, Ohio, Annette M. and Gregg L. Raffler of
Clarksville; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and four great great
grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, half brother, Glenn and
a half sister.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 16 at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia
with Rev. Mark Lipscomb officiating.  Interment Saranac Cemetery.  Anyone
wishing may make a memorial contribution to West Berlin Wesleyan Church in
Irwin’s name.  Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.
