AGNES HARWOOD 1916-2017
Agnes P. Harwood, aged 99 of Lake Odessa, Mi passed away peacefully on June 11, 
2017. She was born Sept 15, 1917 in Boston Township, Mi the daughter of Gottlieb 
and Ila Pearl (Hanson) Roth. 

Agnes was a graduate of Clarksville High School. She married Irwin Harwood on 
Oct. 2, 1935. He passed away 2005. Agnes, along with her husband, owned and 
operated Harwood IGA in Clarksville from 1952-1969. She went on to work at 
Meijer for nine years before retiring. She was a member of West Berlin Wesleyan 
church.

Agnes was an avid bowler, loved gardening, pontoon rides and spending winters in 
Florida. She especially loved spending time with her family. 

Agnes is survived by her children, Edwin (Angie) Harwood of Monroe, Susan (John) 
Eldridge of lake Odessa, David (Gina) Harwood of Ohio, Annette (Greg) Raffler of 
Clarksville; Sister Jen Hazel of Lake Odessa; 16 grandchildren, 39 great-
grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her 
parents, husband Irwin Harwood; son Durward Harwood; three brothers, Darwin 
Donald and Clare, two sisters, Doris and Patricia; grandson, Edwin; and three 
great great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Agnes will be held on Thursday, June 15 at 11 a.m. at Lake 
Funeral Home in Ionia with Pastor Mark Lipscomb officiating. Interment Saranac 
Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Funeral home. Those 
wising may make memorial contributions to West Berlin Wesleyan Church or a
