The Ionia Standard, Friday, October 14, 1904
In the death of Edmund Harwood of Berlin township, which occurred on 
Wednesday, October 5, Father Time laid his hand on one of the really sturdy 
pioneers of Ionia county--one of that class who have made the world better for 
having lived in it.  

Mr. Harwood was born in Franklin county, new York, on March 21, 1830, and thus 
lived to the age of 74 years, 6 months and 14 days.  He came with his parents 
to Wayne county, Michigan in 1832, and to Ionia county on October 14, 1939.  
He is survived by a brother and sister, James Harwood of Bushnell, Montcalm 
County, and Mary A. Butler of Berlin township.  Deceased was married in this 
city on Aug. 12, 1949 to Ann Hackett, who departed this life on Dec. 16, 
1882.  To this union were born 9 children, all living save one, Mary, wife of 
Joseph Fitch, who died on Aug. 17, 1882.  The other children are: John H of 
Ruth Centre, Kas,; Phila, wife of Millard Mitchell of Berlin Tp.; Edmund B. of 
Orange Tp.; Margaret, wife of J. Elvert of Berlin Tp.; Cyrus P. of Berlin Tp.; 
Agnes, wife of T.M. Cook of Allegan; Anna, wife of Fred Eddy of Berlin Tp.; 
and William L. of Berlin Tp.
