The deaths were from many causes, some of them being culmination of long illnesses. Among the funeral announcements during the period were: E.A. Harwood, 70 of Saranac, died Thursday evening at his home after several weeks of illness. Funeral services were held from the home Sunday afternoon with Rev. W.F. Kendrick officiating. Mr. Harwood was born and raised in Berlin township and lived there all of his life save two years spent in Grand Rapids and some time in Saranac. He was a member of the Berlin Center grange and the Methodist church. He is survived by his wife and by four daughters, Mrs. George Day, Ionia; Mrs. Glenn Palmer, Mrs. Stanley Whiters and Miss Edna Harwood, of Saranac.
