Haskin, 91, of Saranac passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 21, 2004 at Ionia County Memorial Hospital in Ionia. He was born on March 9, 1913 in Ionia, the son of Stanley and Winnifred Waldron Haskin. Byron graduated from Palo High School with the class of 1931 and later worked for a number of years as a guard at the State Hospital in Ionia. He was married on April 4, 1953 in Crown Point Indiana to Charlotte Petchinsky and she survives along with their children; Connie J. Geyer of South Vienna, Ohio, Judy and William Loper of Greenville, Beverly Coonrod and Bonnie and Chris Zahm all of Belding. Byron is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, special adopted daughter and son-in-law, Kimberli and Art Rice, his sister Lucille Shepherd of Kalkaska and a sister-in-law, Myra Haskin of Kissimmee, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters; Nancy and Betty, his brother Rex killed during World War II and his brother Robert in 2004. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Rev. David W. Bogda of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Ionia officiating. Interment will be in River Ridge Cemetery, Belding. Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.
