He fought a brief but determined battle against melanoma. Norm was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Mildred Haskin; sister, Wanda Keifner; and brother, Marvin Haskin. He will be greatly missed by Harriet (Jandernoa), his loving wife of 60 years; and his nine children; Allen (Diane) Haskin, Chris (Rhonda) Haskin, Cathie (Ron) Denney, Connie (Fred) Teachworth, Mary (K. Spikes) Haskin, David (Mary) Haskin, Debra (Matt) Cramer, Brian (Becky) Haskin, and Liza Spencer. Norm and Harriet have been blessed with 32 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Braman. Norm began farming it the Lake Odessa area when he and Harriet were first married, and raised beef cattle and cash crops for many years. He was very involved in 4-H programs with his children and is remembered as a fun-loving parent who enjoyed winter sports and playing baseball with them. After retiring from farming Norm became an avid golfer, and traveled to play on golf courses throughout Michigan and Florida. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday at the St. Edwards Catholic Church, with Father Philip Shangraw as celebrant, and Father Thomas Hack and Father Ron Jandernoa as co-celebrants. The Rite of Interment followed at Lakeside Cemetery. The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to the Right to Life of Michigan Education Fund, Barry Community Hospice, Woodland Township Fire Department, or the Lakewood Educational Foundation.
