August 12, 2017 MARIE E. HASKINS Lake Odessa, MI - Marie E Haskins, age 97, of lake Odessa, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017 surrounded by family at the Thornapple Manor in Hastings. She was born on November 26, 1919 to Ralph and Edna (Carpenter) Bowerman in lake Odessa. On August 19, 1936, she married the love of her life William T. Haskins. Marie and Bill lived in lake Odessa, and operated a pool hall together in the 1950s. She also worked at Mitchell-Bentley of Ionia and Lake Odessa Machine Products. She was a Life member of V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary-Jackson Mutschler and First Congregational church of Lake Odessa. Marie loved playing cards, fishing, bingo, crocheting a a big fan of the Detroit Tigers. In later year, she enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Marie is survived by her children, Thelma Curtis Lake Odessa, Terry (Betty) Haskins of Clarksville, Shirley (Ron) Van Dorpe of Saranac; grandchildren, Sally (Branden), David (Laurie Ann, Bret), Sandra (Brian and Luke), Suzanne (Ryan) Tom (Lori, Blake, Adam), Becky) Eric, Elizabeth, Ellee, Erica, Lysie), Kellie (Brett, brooks, Marlowe), Owen (Nicole, Gabby), Cindy (Chuck, Chelsea, Corey), Dianne (Michelle, Melanie, Emily); several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Bowerman Sr.; mother, Edna Bowerman; husband, William Haskins; siblings, Lillian Buxton, Lucille Piper, Leslie Bowerman, Ralph Bowerman Jr., Richard Bowerman; sons-in-law, Bud Curtis and Terry Taylor. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug.12, 2017 at 11 AM at the Koops funeral Chapel, lake Odessa. burial will take place in the lakeside cemetery, lake Odessa. Memorials are suggested to the Great lakes Caring Hospice Foundation, 630 Kenmoor Ave SE #200, Grand Rapids, MI 49546, First Congregational Church of lake Odessa, or the VFW post 4461 Ladies Auxiliary.
