Haskins’ Death Results from Cerebral Hemorrhage Byron A. Haskins, 78, 720 Branch Street, Ionia, died suddenly of a cerebral hemorrhage, about 9 a.m. Thursday morning. Mr. Haskins collapsed on the corner of State and Branch Street, while on his way to a nearby store. An as yet unidentified person called the Sheriff’s office, and Coroner Dale Kauffman. Deputy Sheriff Loyal Hodson responded to the call, and Coroner Kauffman arrived at the scene of the death at the same time. Kauffman later reported the cause of death as a cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Haskins had not been in ill health, although he had been bothered with heart trouble. His wife, Ida Haskins, has been severely ill for some time. Mr. Haskins was born on a farm on M-66, near the Long Lake corner, and lived there until he moved to Ionia at the beginning of the war. During the war he worked at the Ypsilanti Reed Co., but he quit that job in November of 1948. He has lived in his present home for the last seven years. He is survived by his wife, Ida, three sons, Allen, Stanley, and Levi, nine grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. One granddaughter, Mrs. Don Braman, lived with the Haskins until the time of her marriage.
