ALPHUS): THE ADVERTISER, SARANAC, MICH.; January 30, 1896: "Last Saturday evening the friends and relatives of Miss Mary Baird gathered at her home to remind her that it was her 19th birthday. While she was at church they took possession of the house and upon her return she met with a surprise. Friends from Lake Odessa, Keene and other places were present, also her uncle Miles Dodds, of Dakota. After spending a pleasant evening with games and music, supper was served and guests departed about 1 o'clock. Miss Baird will no doubt remember her 19th birthday. --One who was there."
