A carpenter by trade, Mr. Hass fell from a scaffolding while repairing the roof at his home. Suffering a fractured hip, he was confined to Blodgett Memorial hospital five weeks before returning to his home a week ago. Mr. Hass was born in Ionia July 20, 1876. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran church. His wife died September 9, 1940. Surviving are three sons, ??ert Hass of Saginaw, Alb?? Hass and Laverne Hass, who made their home with ?? daughter, Mrs. ?? Orwig, of Ionia; [Transcriber's Note: There is a section of the obituary copy that is obscured.] seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Shellenbarger, Mrs. Minnie Kosbar and Mrs. Rose Rammacher, all of Ionia. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. The body is at the Myers funeral home.
