RICHARD HASS COLLAPSES IN GRAND RAPIDS 
Well-Known Ionia Dies in Hospital Shortly After Heart Attack on Street.

Richard Hass, 49, of Ionia, died at St. Mary's hospital Grand Rapids, Thursday 
afternoon about 3 o'clock, where he was taken following a heart attack, 
suffered while walking on Division street about 2 o'clock. Mrs. Hass had been 
ill the past three weeks and went to Grand Rapids to undergo an examination and 
have a diagnosis of his ailment. During the noon hour he left the hospital and 
went for the walk and was to be back at the hospital at the beginning of the 
afternoon for further examination. When the time came for him to report at the 
doctor's office he could not be located, and none of the hospital attendants 
knew where he had gone, and it was  not until the message brought the news of 
his death shortly after 3 o'clock that he was located. 

Mr. Hass was a native of Germany, and came to this country with his parents 
when a lad of eight. They settled in Ionia, ad this since had been his home. He 
had been employed at the Ionia Pottery for the past past 30 years, and was 
foreman of the wire and shipping department.

He was a member of the Masonic order, and was an Odd Fellow. He had filled 
every official chair in the latter fraternity.

Surviving is his widow, who before her marriage was Miss Ida Hass, and two 
children, Lenore and Arthur, both at home.

Funeral services will be held from the residence Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, 
and from the Lutheran church at 2:30, with Rev. B.H. Succop in charge. Burial 
will be in Highland Park cemetery.
