He had been ill two months. He was born in Austin, Ill., May 15, 1891 and had lived in Belding since 1935. He previously lived in Chicago and Hastings. Mr. Hastings was employed as a tool and die maker at the Process Equipment company in Belding. He was a life member of the DAV Flat River post 106 and Presbyterian church in Chicago. He served with United States Army engineers in France, Germany and England during World War I He was married January 9, 1935 to Lula Smith of Belding who survives. Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Pearl Roath of Oak Park, Ill., and nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Huffman funeral home in Belding with the Rev. H.S. Ellis officiating. Flat River DAV will have charge of graveside service at River Ridge cemetery.
