Several weeks ago Bonnie Jean Hatch, 8, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hatch, N. Lafayette street, Greenville, was taken ill with the scarlet fever and later contracted red measles. The mother cared for the child and took the diseases, also developing strep throat. She was ill only a week, having died Tuesday night. Private services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 4 o’clock, with burial at McBride. The young daughter was taken to the Butterworth detention hospital at Grand Rapids late Tuesday night in hopes of saving her life as her condition was very grave. The infant son, Donald Lee, is being cared for by a close neighbor. It is hoped that he will not take the diseases as he is only 13 months old. Surviving besides the husband and children and her parents, are a sister, Mrs. Marvin Grunwald of Lansing, and a half brother, Leo Peterson, at home.
