The Ionia Standard, Thursday, July 29, 1880

Dr. Andrew V. Hathaway, the well-known dentist of this city, died Monday night 
of typhoid pneumonia.  He had been an old resident of this city and was widely 
esteemed.  His disposition was rather modest and retiring, and by his genial 
deportment he won many friends.  He was 42 years of age.

The funeral took place from the residence on Wednesday, and was largely 
attended.  Rev. W. Gardiner preached a brief sermon, and the Methodist choir 
furnished music.  He leaves a wife and three children.  The latter are the 
issue of a former wife.  His life was insured for $1800 in the Michigan Mutual 
Insurance Company.
