Bessie G. Hathaway, 83, of 299 Rowe, Portland, died Sunday, June 26.  She was
born June 23, 1905, the daughter of Percy and Bessie Gibbs English, and was a
retired teacher.

Surviving are her husband, Harold; a son, James Hathaway of Saginaw; two
daughters, Persis Wirth of Ann Arbor and Mary Kelley of Marquette; and four
grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place.  Memorial services will be announced by Neller
Funeral Home, Portland.

[Transcriber’s note:  There is a notation on the obituary card that she was
buried in Portland Cemetery.]
