Grand Rapids Press - June 9, 1939

Ionia- Coroner Harry Meyers and Sheriff Leslie Murphy were called to the 
home of Dr. Claude Elton Hathaway (DDS.) by Mrs. Hathaway.

Dr. Hathaway was found in an upstairs bedroom where he died as a result of 
hanging. Dr. Hathaway had been despondent over ill health that plagued him 
for several months. 

Besides the wife, Dr. Hathaway is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Thomas 
Marston of Indian River.
