Weston L. Hatinger, 68, of Lakeview died Monday, April 6 at Butterworth Hospital
in Grand Rapids.  Weston Leslie Hatinger was born Aug. 9, 1929 in Ronald
Township, the son of Lewis and Nevine (Moore) Hatinger.  He grew up in the Palo
area and graduated from Ionia Public Schools in 1948.  His mother died when he
was 14 years old and he lived with his sister, Lucilla and Salem Ostrander. 
After graduating from school, he served in the U.S. Army until 1952.  Upon his
return, he began working for the State of Michigan until he retired as Manager
of the Ionia Liquor Control Commission.  He married Laura (Jones) Newman in
Ionia on May 23, 1953.

He is survived by his wife, Laura; two sons, Carl Dean (Carol) Newman of Sydney
and Charles Weston (Robin) Hatinger of Arizona; two grandchildren, Christopher
Newman and Christina Hatinger; two step-grandchildren, Michelle and Amy Raines;
one brother, Bud Hatinger of Ionia; two sisters, Kay (Vern) Heppe of Ionia and
Janet (Bob) Peabody of Portland; one brother-in-law, Gordon Sargeant of Ionia;
and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two
sisters, one sister-in-law and one brother-in-law.

Funeral services for Weston L. Hatinger will be held Thursday, April 9 at 4:30
p.m. from the Cook Funeral Home, Rich Street Chapel, with Rev. Kendall Harger of
Shiloh Community Church officiating.  Interment will be in Balcom Cemetery. 
Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home.
 Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.  Envelopes
are available at the Cook Funeral Home, Rich Street Chapel, Ionia.
