June 17, 2016 CARROLL B."BUD" HATINGER 1924-2016 Carroll B. "Bud" Hatinger, 91 of Ionia, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. he was born on Oct. 10, 1924 in Palo the son of Lewis and Navine (Moore) Hatinger. Bud was a member of First Christian Church in Ionia. He started his career at the Ionia State Hospital and retired from the Riverside Correctional Facility after 40 years of service. Bud enjoyed woodworking, crossword puzzles, gardening, playing cards, cribbage, domino's, ping pong, watching the Detroit Tigers and blue gill fishing in the summer and winter. Bud loved his family and his dogs. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Gloria in 1995; he is also preceded in death by his siblings Liewella (Salem) Ostrander, Georgia (Sarge) Sargeant, Kathleen (Vernon) Heppe, Weston (Susie) Hatinger and Janet (Robert) Peabody. Surviving are his children tom (Diane) Hatinger of Ionia and Barbara Hatinger (Paul Goza); grandchildren Kara (Ghanghus) Goins, Clay (Jessica) Hatinger, Nickola (Kavita) Hatinger, Matthew (Chelsie) Reed, Beth Reed, and Ledge Hatinger; great-grandchildren Kelsey and Corey Fothergill, Austin (Samantha) Darling, Jacob Darling, Elijah Goins, Macee Reed, Mylee Reed, Levi Reed, Weston Reed and Remington Reed; great-great grandchildren Kora Mae Fothergill and Grayson Darling; many nieces an nephews. The Funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Ethan Tews at 11 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2016 at First Christian church, 130 E. Washington St., Ionia. Interment will follow at Balcom Cemetery, Military graveside services will be provided by the Sheridan VFW #5065. The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia. For those wishing, contributions may be made to the Sheridan VFW Post #5065 in memory of Bud.
