HATINGER Died September 17, 1899-age 76 and 1 month. Born in Widenburgh, Germany, September 18th 1823. Daughter of Mr.and Mrs.George Eitelbuss. Her husband John Hatinger died in the fall of 1864. Nine children were born to John & Catherine,three have passed before the Mother. The six living children were all at the funeral-four sons & two daughters, Also one sister of six siblings, Mrs.John Gauss attended. John & Catherine came from Germany in 1854 to Ann Arbor where John died in 1864 leaving Catherine with no earthly possessions to care for their nine children. In 1865 she moved to Bushnell, on a piece of land she bought, on which farm she died, she & her children Succeeded to pay & improve said farm, she left it clear of encumburance to her children. She was converted 36 years ago, soon after she united with the United Brethern Church Of which she was a faithful member until her death. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. D.H. Shelly, of Ionia in the M.E.Church in Palo with burial in Palo Ccemetery.
