Albert B. Hattis-Smith, 82, of Ionia, passed away Monday, May 21, 2001 in 
Ionia.  She as born May 11, 1919 in Clinton County, the daughter of Alfred and 
Rosena (Miller) Williams.  She went on to marry Raymond Hattis Sept. 17, 1943, 
who preceded her in death November 19, 1975.  She then married Neil Smith July 
1979, who preceded her in death July 1980.

She is survived by her children, Carol (Eric) Lau of Riverdale, Kenneth Hattis 
of Ionia, Kay (Dave) McCarn of Ionia, Lyle Hattis of Orleans, Larry (Jeanine) 
Hattis of Maple Rapids, Virginia Bignell of Ionia, Sally Houghton of Fenwick, 
Ronald (Bertha) Smith of Grand Ledge, Gary Smith of Belding, Stanley Smith of 
Greenville and Melody (Randy) Treynor of Belding; brother, Roman (Katherine) 
Williams of Pewamo and Urban Williams of St. Johns; sister, Geraldine Toth of 
Lansing; 35 grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren.  She 
was preceded in death by two brothers.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with Rev. 
G. Kenneth Martin officiating.  Interment East Plains Cemetery.  Visitation is 
4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.  Anyone wishing may make a memorial contribution 
to Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation.
