Rev. Fr. McCarthy of Ionia officiated. The pallbearers were the four sons, Joseph, Peter, Nicholas and George Hauck. The remains were taken to Westphalia where interment was made. Mrs. Hauck was born in Prussia, Germany, June 24, 1824, and was the oldest of a family of ten children of Nick Pohl. She came to American at the age of 14 years in 1838. Her first residence was in Detroit where she lived three years moving from there to Lyons. She was married at Westphalia September 17, 1841 to Philip Hauck, of Lyons. She lived at Lyons for nine and one-half years when she moved to Westphalia on a 240 acre farm where she lived until 1900. Her husband died 21 years ago and since 1900 Mrs. Hauck has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. J. J. Spitzley in Ionia. She was a dutiful mother and lived a Christian life being loved by all who knew her. Of thirteen children who were born to her nine are still living. They are Joseph Hauck, Pewamo; Lizzie Yuncker, Akron, Ohio; Peter Hauck, Belding; Nicholas Hauck, Owosso; George Hauck, Portland; Helena Griffin, Marquette; Della Capwell, Sault Ste. Marie; Michael Hauck, Belding, Anna Spitzley, Ionia. These were all present at the funeral. Others from out of the city who were here were Albert Yuncker of Lansing, Dr. Cook and wife of Hubbardston, James Deegan of Marquette, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Spitzley, Westphalia, and Philip Yuncker, of Akron, Ohio.
