Ferd L. Hauck died on Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock, from typhoid pneumonia,
at the age of 41 years.  Up to within an hour of his death his chances for
recovery were considered fair, if only his heart could be kept in action, but a
subsequent sinking spell carried him off.  The funeral service, under the
auspices of the Fraternal order of Eagles, will be attended from the home, No.
213 West Washington street, at two o’clock on Thursday afternoon.  Rev. Mr.
Blunt of the St. John’s Episcopal church will officiate and interment will be in
Highland Park.  The wife alone survives, there being no children.  Friends
wishing to view the remains may do so between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The funeral for Ferd L. Hauck was attended Thursday afternoon from the
residence, Washington street, and was the largest assembly of the kind in some
time in Ionia.  The Eagles turned out in a body to the number of over a hundred,
being under the direction of Chief Charles Rudy.  The Ionia City band acted as
escort, and these bodies were followed to Highland Park by 25 or more carriages.
 At the grave the Eagles had charge and each member dropped a carnation on the
casket as it was lowered to its final resting place.  At the house there were
many relatives and friends, only a small part being able to enter.  Rev. Cyrus
Mendenhall officiated and Mesdames Smith and Peer sang.  The pallbearers were
Patrick Barrett, Anthony Scully, Robert Zibbel, R.A. VanHouten, John Shumway and
Fred Witzel.
