April 19, 2013 Janice Lynn Hauff, 75, of Gowen, passed away Wednesday evening at Spectrum Health-United Hospital in Greenville. The daughter of Louis and Beryl (Snider) Peer, she was born on Oct. 25, 1937 in Greenville and was a graduate of Greenville High School. On Nov. 18, 1961, in Alpena, she married Martin D. Hauff and together they enjoyed 51 years of marriage. A devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed mushrooming, ceramics, knitting, needlework and handicrafts, and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George Peer and Donald Peer; and a daughter, Terri Tillen. Surviving are her husband, Martin Hauff of Gowen; her children, Deborah and Dennis Harold of Republic, Jerry and Kimberly Burns of Gowen, Greg Hauff of Lowell and Kimberly and James Melson of Cedar Springs; a son-in-law, Bob Tillen of Evansville, Ind.; two brothers, Louis and Geneva Peer of Rockford, and Stanley and Lisa Peer of Pensacola, Fla.; four siblings-in-law, George and Betty Hauff of Alpena, Robert Hauff of Pontiac, Kenneth and Lori Hauff of Alpena, and Diane Zinsli of Traverse City;; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Janice’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on April 30, 2013 at the Greenville New Testament Church, 13615 10 Mile Road N.E. at Ashley Avenue, Greenville, with Pastor John Paepke officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Janice to your favorite charity would be appreciated. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place.
