Hausserman, age 87, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2007. She was born on February 11, 1919 the daughter of Paul and Emma (Streicher) Schipper. Velma loved the Detroit Tigers, often traveling to Lakeland to watch them in the spring. Her family was the most important part of her life. She was very involved with her husband in the family trucking business. Velma is preceded in death by her husband Gaylord “Barney” Hausserman in 1994, and a son William “Duner” Hausserman in 2006. She is survived by her children David (Elizabeth) Hausserman of Ionia, Jack (Carol) Hausserman of Ionia, Jim (Nancy) Hausserman of Ohio, Gaye (Bruce) Stedman of Ionia, Phil (Adel) Hausserman of Muir, Doug (Sandy) Hausserman of Orleans, Steve (Patty) Hausserman of Saranac, Linda Baker of Ionia, Laurie (Tom) McPherson of Ionia, and Anne (Jeff) Hoekstra of Rockford, 22 grandchildren, and several great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2007 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia with Pastor Joe Fremer presiding. Interment will take place at Balcom Cemetery in the spring. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday. Contributions may be made to the Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Lowell.
