VERGIE HAVERSTICK 1920-2017
Vergie M. Haverstick, 97, of Orleans passed away Friday morning Aug. 18, 2017 at 
Heartland Healthcare Center in Ionia. Vergie was born on May 21, 1920 in 
Barthell, Kentucky, the daughter of Ledford and Maggie (Jeffers) Jones.

With the long life that Vergie was blessed with, she had worked at a number of 
different job. In earlier years she had worked at Mitchell-Bentley in Ionia, A O 
Smith, later as a waitress at the Winter Inn of Greenville, served samples at 
Meijer, and lastly working in therapy at the Belding Christian Nursing home now 
Metron of Belding. She enjoyed cake decorating, crafts and family time.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell; a son, Jim; and 
her brothers, Virgil Jones, William Jones and John Jones.

Vergie is loved and survived by her children, Kenneth Haverstick of Orleans, 
Charlotte (Thomas) Smith of Belding, Patricia (Russell) Smith of Orleans; 
thirteen grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, 
Richard (Linda) Jones of Langston, Virginia Lay of Belding; and two sister-in-
laws, Peggy (Donald) Watson of DeWitt and Mary Jones of Fenwick. Funeral 
services were 11 AM Monday at Shiloh Community Church with Pastor Ken Harger 
officiating. Visitation was Sunday evening from 6-8 PM. at Johnson-Feuerstein 
Funeral Home, Belding. Committal prayers were in Woodard Lake Cemetery. 
Memorials may be given to Devos Children's Hospital Sleeping Angels endowment 
fund.
