ROBERT HAWKINS 1941-2017
Robert Leroy Hawkins, 75, of Ionia passed away peacefully after a courageous 
battle with Cancer on Saturday, April 29, 2017.

He was born on June 16, 1941, the son of Orville and Beatrice (Haney) Hawkins. 
He lived his entire life in Ionia, o from Ionia High School, class of 1961.

In hie early, he was involved in Farming. Later he worked as a tool and die 
maker  at Brown Corp. for 32 years where he took great pride in his work. During 
his life time he enjoyed deer hunting, trapping and fishing. Later he became an 
avid bird watcher, a fan of NASCAR, the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and doing 
crossword puzzles.

Robert is survived by his daughters, Rhonda (Andrew) Girolami, Debra (Brian) 
Gangwer; 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dianne (Joseph) 
Dinehart, Mary Lou (Danny) Hopkins; and brother, Jack (Irene) Hawkins; and 
several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dale; and an infant son.

Robert loved the simple things in life, taking one day at a time, and loved hi 
sfamily.

The family would like to thank Great Lakes Hospice for all their care and 
support, especially Christy Emelander.

Per Roberts's wishes, there will be no funeral. Cremation has taken place, and   
graveside  will be held later.
