Hawley, 82, of 737 Paris SE., Grand Rapids, died at the Ionia County Memorial Hospital Sunday evening, where he had been a patient since Tuesday. He had been visiting with his sister, Mrs. Guy E. Bradley of VanderHeyden Court, when he was taken ill. Mr. Hawley was born in Lyons August 21, 1872, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hawley. He attended Ferris Institute and was married to Gertrude Allan at Reed City. Mrs. Hawley died in 1943. A retired salesman, Mr. Hawley was a member of the Plymouth Congregational church, Grand Rapids, Doric Lodge No. 342 of F.&A.M. and a life member of No. 7 Royal Arch Masons. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Bradley; and two nieces, Dr. Louise Abney of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. F.M. Marsh of Ionia. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Stone-Kauffman funeral home with the Rev. A.A. Potts of Grand Rapids officiating. Burial will be in the Hawley family lot of Lyons cemetery. ---------- Funeral services for Walter M. Hawley, who died Sunday evening, were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Stone Kauffman Funeral home with the Rev. A.E. Potts, pastor of Plymouth Congregational church, Grand Rapids, officiating. Burial services were conducted by Ionia lodge No 38? of the F.&A.M. under the auspices of Doric lodge No. 342 of Grand Rapids. Arthur Fox, worthy master of the Ionia lodge, was assisted by Elwin King, senior warden; William Storch, junior warden; and Wayne Cline, chaplain. Pallbearers were Wayne Cline, Elwin King, William Storch, Earl Curtiss, Arthur Tingley, and George Staley. Interment was in Lyons cemetery. Attending the services from out of town were Dr. Louise Abney, of Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Violet Bodony, the Rev. and Mrs. A.E. Potts, Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Cook, Mrs. Polly Sherwood, Henrietta VanLoon, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde M. Smith, Mrs. Edna Kelly, Mr. and Mrs. A. Benje, Mrs. Edward VanAtta, Mr. and Mrs. R. Fuller, all of Grand Rapids; Flora M. Upton, Mr. and Mrs. David A. Strayer, and George W. Staley of Lyons; G.H. Gillman of Muir, and Mrs. John Spotts and Mrs. Richard O’Neil of Pewamo.
