C. Hawley, aged 68 years. Mr. Hawley was born in Livingston Co., N.Y., where he grew to manhood, and eventually became one of the most prominent business men of the state. In 1847, he married Miss Harriet Nowlen, who died in 1854, leaving two children, George and William. George was killed by accident in 1888; Wm. resides here, and is engaged in business at Muir. Deceased came to Lyons in 1855, where he has since resided. In 1864, he married Miss Verona Coon, who with three children, survive him. Mr. Hawley was a man of more than ordinary ability. Politically he had been a life long Democrat, and had held many positions of honor and trust in that party; was postmaster at Lyons during the Cleveland administration, retiring when the Republicans came into power. Socially, he was a pleasant, companionable gentleman, inclined to look upon the bright side of life; a kind and indulgent husband and father, ever watchful for the welfare of his home. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church, under the auspices of the Order of the Free Masons, of which he had been an honored and esteemed member for over thirty years. The remains were buried in the beautiful cemetery east of the village. Memories will be cherished many years of Wm. C. Hawley.
