Hawley, 66, of 134 Garden street, Muir died at 4:30 Sunday morning at Ionia County memorial hospital where she was admitted at 3:15 a.m. She was born January 12, 1897 in Hope township, Midland county, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert L. Carigan, and was married to William Hawley in 1912. He died in 1935. Mrs. Hawley became a practical nurse in 1940 and since 1949 had operated a nursing home at the Garden street residence. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Viva Shepherd of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Leola Prater of Lowell, Mrs. Violet Rushford of Ionia and Evelyn Hawley of Muir; four sons, Melvin Hawley of Otsego, Virgil of Hudsonville, William of Ionia, and Harold of Lyons; three brothers, Bert, Harold and Chester Carigan, all of Belding; and three sisters, Mrs. Edith Tripp of Midland, Mrs. Thelma Miller of Ionia, and Mrs. Glenna Preston of Orleans. One son, Lloyd, a brother and two sisters preceded her in death. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 2 o’clock at Lyons Baptist church. Officiating will be the Rev. Maurice Horn of Paris Township church, Kent county and the Rev. Elmer Ubbink of Bay City. Burial will be at Balcom cemetery. The body will be at Shaw-Rivett funeral home in Muir until Wednesday noon.
