The Ionia Standard, Friday, February 15, 1895

Mrs. Lida Hawley, aged 76, wife of C. E. Hawley, residing two miles west of 
Palo, died on Wednesday.  Funeral Sunday.

Mrs. Charles E. Hawley, a highly respected and long-time resident of Ronald, 
died quite suddenly last Wednesday morning, aged 76 years.  Mr. and Mrs. 
Hawley were married fifty-seven years ago; raised a family of nine children, 
and this is the first death that has occurred in the family.  The funeral was 
held Sunday at the Baptist church, Palo, conducted by Rev. D. B. Munger, of 
Cedar Springs.  The church was packed to its utmost.
