After an illness of less than two weeks Asa Hawley, aged 76 years, a life-long
resident of Palo, and vicinity, passed away Tuesday, December 18.  He leaves a
wife and two daughters and their families to mourn the loss of a kind husband
and father.  Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the M.E. church,
Rev. Holcomb, a former pastor here, officiating.  The Masonic fraternity, of
which he was a member, and the Eastern Star lodge attended in a body.  Interment
was in Palo cemetery.  Mr. Hawley’s only sister, Miss Marian Hawley, is very ill
in a hospital in Portland, Oregon.  Asa Hawley will be greatly missed here in
his home town.
