Dec. 31, 2016 LESLIE "SUE" HAWLEY 1953-2016 Leslie "Sue" Hawley, age 63, of Greenville, passed away Monday Dec. 26, 2016, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids, MI. She was born in Detroit, MI on Oct. 4, 1953, the daughter of Charles Lester and Alice (Hixson) Oliver. She graduated from Belding High School and began her working career at the Greenville Restaurant, former Gibson Refrigerator Co. for 10 1/2 years, Sheridan IGA, while going through nursing school. She married Richard I. Hawley on Oct. 16, 1972, in Greenville. She later earned an associate degree in nursing from Montcalm Community College becoming a registered nurse. She and her daughter were the first mother/daughter nursing students to graduate together with nursing degrees from MCC. Sue and Dick enjoyed traveling with their travel trailers, going from coast to coast and border to border. She also performed missionary work in nursing with Dr. Paul Minnick and wife Molly, in Mexico and Peru, South America. She was preceded in death by her daughter Lori in 1978, her father in 1994, mother in 2007, brothers-in-law Donald Blake and Ray Foster. She is survived by her husband Dick Hawley; daughter Lisa Hawley; and grandchildren, Ashley Noah and Spencer Noah; her sisters and brothers, Patricia Blake, Sharon (Terry) Gunther, Marion Foster, Steve (Gladys) Oliver, Stanley (Patty) Oliver and Mark (Annette) Oliver; several nieces and nephews; her husband's siblings, Judy (Greg) Camp and Earl (Elizabeth) Hawley. A memorial gathering will take place on Monday Jan. 2, 2017, from 3-5 p.m. at Hurst Funeral Home.
