He was born Feb. 10, 1922, in Hope, Mich., the son of William and Fay Carigon Hawley. He attended Clarksville schools and served in the U.S. Army in the southwest Pacific during World War II, and was a member of the 32nd Red Arrow Division. He managed a service station in Grand Rapids for the past 22 years. He married June Ginebaugh Aug. 26, 1946, in Lyons. The couple lived all of their married lives in Grand Rapids and Wyoming. Mr. Hawley is survived by his wife, June; one daughter, Cheryl of Grand Rapids; three brothers, Harold (Ed) of Ionia, William of Grand Rapids and Melvin of Otsego; and three sisters, Evelyn Hawley of Muir, Mrs. William (Violet) Rushford of Ionia and Mrs. Blaine (Leola) Prater of Grand Rapids. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Leddick Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ralph Barton of the Temple Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Balcom Cemetery. Friends and relatives may visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the American Cancer Society. Donations may be left in the funeral home.
